Protect your Smart Target Attachments (STA's) with our Steel Shrapnel Guards. Certain steel target designs can allow shrapnel to get behind the steel plate and cause damage to your STA's. This can happen on targets that use steel risers or steel 2x4 guard plates. When a bullet strikes a steel riser or guard plate, the shrapnel can deflect in all directions instead of being deflected into the ground.
These Steel Shrapnel Guards utilize the same high-grade, VHB 3M Velcro to adhere to the target. The Shrapnel Guards are designed to cover an entire side of your Smart Target Attachment while still allowing the Active Target Indicator to rotate freely. Not only do they protect the bottom of the STA from shrapnel from the ricocheting off the target frame, but you can also place them on the sides of your STA’s to allow your steel targets to be placed closer together.
